Cuba cruises briefly reemerged as a unique option for travelers, offering the opportunity to experience Havana and other Cuban ports during a short window of eased travel restrictions. As part of a broader diplomatic thaw between the U.S. and Cuba, policy changes in 2016 allowed U.S.-based cruise ships to sail to Cuban ports for the first time in decades. However, that period proved short-lived because by June 2019 U.S. policy changed again and there is now a U.S. State Department advisory of Do Not Travel to Cuba. Today there are no U.S.-based cruises to Cuba available for travelers, and Cuba cruises are not currently offered under existing regulations. Instead, you may wish to consider a variety of Caribbean cruise itineraries that operate year-round and offer a wide range of cultural, historical, and beach-focused experiences.
